Papers are published in The EPJ Web of Conferences.
Conference papers are indexed in Thomson Reuters (ISI) Web of Knowledge and SCOPUS.

The conference will focus on obtaining an overview of projects under investigation, and experimental methods used in the field of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. Its aim is to organize a network of young research workers who are interested in experimental, and also theoretical, work in the field of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. The conference should contribute to creating the closer contacts and sharing experience in application of various experimental methods, preparation and implementation of experiments, processing of results and numerical simulations of experiments.

Scientific and technical topics

The conference will focus on obtaining an overview of projects under investigation, and experimental methods used in the field of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. Its aim is to organize a network of young research workers who are interested in experimental, and also theoretical, work in the field of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. The conference should contribute to creating the closer contacts and sharing experience in application of various experimental methods, preparation and implementation of experiments, processing of results and numerical simulations of experiments.

The main topics of the conference are:

Acceptance and publishing of papers

Papers (in English) which have been accepted will be published in the proceedings and on CD ROM.

For the purpose of publishing a paper in the proceedings, it is necessary to upload it at efm.kez.tul.cz before 6th September 2015. The paper must be in the format corresponding to the sample published on the web pages of the conference (in *.pdf or *.doc or *.docx format). Your paper should not exceed the size of 20 MB.

Early payment of the registration fee for authors of papers is before 6th September 2015. The registration fee may be paid also later after this date. If the registration fee is not paid, the paper will not be published. It is essential that receipt or confirmation of the bank transfer of registration fee to the conference bank account to be delivered to the organizers of the conference immediately after the transaction (please, send a letter, fax, email).

Non publishing participants may pay the registration fee at beginning of the conference.

The official language of the conference is English.

Keynote lectures

Dr. Shan Zhong, Manchester University, United Kingdom

Dr. Shan ZhongDr Zhong is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, Manchester University, UK. She received her PhD from Cambridge University in 1994, and her Bachelor and Master degree from Tsinghua University in China. Prior to joining Manchester as a lecturer in 1997, she has worked as a postdoctoral research associate at Oxford University for three years. Sponsored by the Leverhulme Study Abroad Fellowship, she has also undertaken six-month sabbatical research at Princeton University in 2009.
Dr Zhong’s research at Manchester is primarily concerned with boundary layers, with boundary-layer laminar-to-turbulent transition and flow control being the main focus of her work. Through carefully designed experiments and innovative use of advanced flow measurement techniques, her research aims at understanding the fundamental fluid mechanics, which underpins some of the technological advances in fluid power and transport systems.
In this keynote lecture, Dr Zhong will present some research work on flow separation control, turbulence control, fluid mixing enhancement and surface cooling using synthetic jets, which has been led by her at Manchester since 2006.

Dr. Rudolf Dvořák, Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic

Dr. Rudolf DvořákEmeritus-scientist in the Institute of Thermomechanics, Czech Academy of Sciences. He received his Dipl.Ing. in Mechanical Engineering (Turbomachinery) from the Czech Technical University (ČVUT) in Prague in 1954, PhD. in Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics from the Czech Academy of Sciences in 1958, and the DrSc in 1989. He was Director of the Institute of Thermomechanics CzAS (1990 – 1993), Chairman of the Czech National Committee of IUTAM, and founding member of the European Mechanics Society (EUROMECH). For 30 years he held courses on Gas Dynamics, Internal Aerodynamics, Mathematical Modelling in Aerodynamics at the Czech Technical University in Prague, and supervised several PhD projects. He is the author of more than 50 research reports, 150 articles in various journals and conference proceedings, 7 textbooks, a monograph on Transonic Flows (academia, 1986), coauthor of a book on Mathematical modelling in aerodynamics (with K.Kozel, 1996), books Ernst Mach, Physicist and Philosopher (2005) and How they fly (academia, 2015).
His research concerned high-speed internal aerodynamics, turbomachinery aerodynamice, viscous compressible (mainly transonic) flows, flows with concentrated vorticity and vortical structures, flows in relatively narrow channels, animal aerodynamics.

Assoc. Prof. Robert Pastuszko, Kielce University of Technology, Poland

Assoc. Prof. Robert PastuszkoRobert Pastuszko is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the Department of Mechanics of the Kielce University of Technology, Kielce, Poland. He received his Ph.D. from this University in 1999 and habilitation from the Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland in 2013. His main interests are pool boiling heat transfer on enhanced structures, thermosyphons, heat pipes, Stirling engines.
